Adenoid Facies

Adenoid facies refers to the atypical appearance of facial features due to persistent adenoid hypertrophy. Following changes occurs in the face:

• Elongated face with dull expressions
• Prominent open mouth
• Crowded upper teeth and protruding teeth
• Hitched up the upper lip
• Pinched in nose appearance
• High arched palate and Sunken eyes

Symptoms

• Nasal obstruction
• Mouth breathing
• Nasal discharge
• Epistaxis (nose bleeding)
• Voice change
• Ear infection (secretory otitis media)
• Ear pain
